Our Veterinary Team Sanford Oaks Animal Clinic in Arlington, TX

Dr. Karen Young was born in Ontario, Canada, and grew up in Duncanville, Texas. During her undergrad years at Texas A&M, she began hearing about Christian Veterinary Mission (CVM) and the veterinarians serving in various countries around the world. She attended vet school with the desire to work with CVM after graduation. Just a few months after graduating in 2001, she heard about a small animal clinic in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. This seemed like a dream come true, and it indeed was! Dr. Karen oversaw the small animal clinic and trained Mongolia veterinarians and vet students from 2003-2013. She then returned to Texas and worked as a relief vet for several clinics, including Sanford Oaks. After working at Sanford Oaks for over a year, she became the owner and now serves as medical director.

Despite the upheaval of 2020, Dr. Karen reflects fondly on meeting her husband during the pandemic.  She has a married stepdaughter.  Dr. Karen enjoys learning to play the cello, doing jigsaw puzzles, and cooking and baking.

Dr. Esther Grissom was born and raised in Euless, Texas. She graduated from veterinary school in 1992 from Texas A&M University. She was an associate veterinarian at a small animal clinic in Arlington until 2002, when she began doing relief work in the DFW area. Relief work has allowed her to meet and work with many talented people in the veterinary field, and she is happy to enable busy practice owners time to rest and recharge.

She enjoys bicycling, reading, baking, doing Snapfish photo projects, and hiking in her free time.

Dr. Grissom has been with Sanford Oaks Animal Clinic since October 2017.

Dr. Bryan Agado grew up in the Texas Rio Grand Valley, where he was active in FFA and his family’s Simbrah cattle ranch. He attended Texas A&M University and earned his B.S. in Animal Science and Biomedical Science in 2009 and his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in 2016. Dr. Agado spent his early career in mixed animal practices in Oklahoma and Texas, where he was able to work with a wide variety of animals and their owners. Dr. Agado especially enjoys getting to know his patients and their owners and appreciates the opportunity to work through their medical cases.

Dr. Agado lives in the DFW area with his wife, Nicole, two sons, Cameron & Landry, and his daughter, Alexandra. They have a house full of pets, including their two dogs, Alice & Ruby, and one cat, Piper.

Becky was born and raised in the heart of Cajun country – Eunice, Louisiana. Her love of science and animals helped her decide on a career in the veterinary field. She is a graduate of the Veterinary Technology program at Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, Louisiana, and has enjoyed working in several states, including Louisiana, Hawaii, California, and now, Texas.

In her free time, Becky enjoys photography and traveling. She and her husband share their home with a rescue, a Beagle/Terrier mix named Bailey.

Becky has been with Sanford Oaks Animal Clinic as a Veterinary Technician and now as a Practice Manager since July 1991.

Dominique is originally from California and moved to Texas in 2023.  She has been in the veterinary field for over 5 years and has been licensed for 2 years.  She has 4 black and white cats named Walter, Wanda, Wendy, and Willy, a ball python named Dan, and a beardie named Larry.  In her free time, she likes to read, go to the lake, swim, and spend time with family.  

Dominique joined our team as a Veterinary Technician in December of 2023.

Tammy was born in Parkersburg, West Virginia and now lives in Duncanville. She has always had a deep love for animals and started working in veterinary clinics in 1997. She has since worked in vet clinics in West Virginia, Ohio, and Texas.

She married her husband Danny in December 2006. Tammy has a daughter, Crystal, three grown granddaughters, Hannah, Sierra, and Kayla, and three great-grandchildren, Ivy, Zayne, and Braxleigh. Tammy and Danny share their home with several dogs: Dixie Belle, Fantasia, Moose, Kaylee, Dusty, Honey Mae, Jax, and Bonnie. In her free time, Tammy enjoys reading, coloring in adult coloring books, and rescuing and helping animals when she can.

Tammy has been with Sanford Oaks Animal Clinic as a Veterinary Assistant and now, as a Receptionist, since September 2006.

Gabby grew up in Louisiana and has lived in Arlington for 23 years. She lives with her husband, son, and their pets – a cat named Lagertha and 2 dogs, Brida and Grimbeorn (Grim for short).

She is an avid knitter and knits anywhere she can. She loves to take camping and hiking trips with her family, and they also enjoy foraging for wild edibles.

Gabby has been with Sanford Oaks Animal Clinic as a Veterinary Assistant since August 2021.

Emoni was born in Washington but raised in Texas. She is currently in school to become a veterinarian.

She has an adorable, perfect angel named Marco who happens to be a 10 pound Yorkie.

Emoni joined our team as a veterinary assistant in April 2023.
